The My Interests field in My Profile is populated when Custom Categories is turned on in the Configuration Settings.
Custom Categories is meant to enable Admins to create tags for events, then when events are tagged they become searchable using those tags. My Interests is where users can preselect tags they are interested in so that events they see are pre-filtered based on their preferences.
How to set up custom categories
My interests is a custom category enabled through configuration settings.
- As an admin of the platform, you will need to navigate to settings then click on the configuration settings tab.
- Scroll down to custom category. Here you can toggle the categories on and off and can add up to 3 categories and edit them as well.
How to use custom categories
When creating an event, you can use these tags. Under Basic Information you will notice custom categories are set up. Click the drop down button to select a custom category
How to set up interests in your profile
Users will go into my profile, and will have the ability to edit My interests. Click the edit My interests box to select custom categories.
